I need some help to encode videos. I have some old DVD discs self recorded. I can recover .VOB files from them but when I convert them with Handbrake it sometimes cut the bottom of screen off and some subtitles . How to fix this? . Handbrake converts them to .M4V files. Another thread there is mention about ffmpeg program. What is that? Can It convert .VOB files?

Handbrake converts them to .M4V files.
Change this to "MP4" in Tools>Preferences>Output Files.

Ok. How that helps on texts cropping up.

  4. Set cropping to custom and the values to 0.

I found some settings that help on cutting those text off: Set Cropping 0 and Width / Height to maximum.
