  1. Hi everybody,

I'm working on restoring this TV recording. Unfortunatly I don't have the VHS anymore, but I remember the antenna reception was not great and the gear I used at that time (2008) to capture was not great neither. Hopefully I kept the orginal HuffYUV encoded video on a hard drive for a better processing one day. I finally found that hard drive in my archives. I would like to restore it.

The main problem is the noisy lines. I could have an acceptable result by using MCTemporal Denoise but some frames are missing in the final post processing file.

Here the script I used :

    AviSource("itw-cap24.avi")

    McTemporalDenoise(settings="high")
Can you recommend me a better processing ?

Here is a 30 seconds raw sample of the video:

    Thanks a lot

    Best regards

  2. Defreq() should be able to help.

Why would MCTD cause missing frames? It's not doing that here.

  3. Thank you Jagabo for advising me Defreq(). I'll test it soon.

Regarding MCTD, the problem was in fact only on virtualdub playback. A processed clip just rendered fine with no frame drops !

    Please have a nice day

    Best regards

  4. Yes, MCTD is a slow filter. Don't expect to get smooth playback of the AviSynth script in VirtualDub (this is true of all slow/complex filters). The encoded video should be fine though.
