Hi, I am having trouble with my sony RDR-VX535.
As stated above VHS tapes have no problem running and operating smoothly. However, once I load a VHS-c adapter, the video will play for about 2 to 3 seconds before stopping. The VCR still stays on, but it acts as if I pressed the stop button. I can continue right back and press play but the problem still persists.
I've tried multiple VHS-c tapes and the issue remains. Would it be best if I just bought a new adapter?
The adapter I use is an old Popular Mechanics EL-303 cassette adaptor.
Any help will be appreciated! Thank you!

Yes, get a different adapter. I recommend JVC, Matsushita/Panasonic. Never had trouble with either of those.

JVC CP7U type, powered adapter
Note that many VCRs hate C tapes, certain decks are suggested.
