    Hi everyone, I'm new here, I have the Mad Max movies on a hard drive I salvaged the mp4 video files displayed on my computer and my smart TV as the movie poster, not the regular VLC or video file icon. how is this done? I would like to change all my videos. I appreciate any help I can get, Thanks

    MP3Tag Editor will do it.

    Yes, I know it says MP3, but is works for MP4s as well.

    Open the folder containing the MP4;

    Click on the file to be edited;

    Right click on the cover bit, bottom left.

    My unedited notes/waffle on making MP4 icons:

    Thumbnail display size 440x310 (1.42:1)

    It appears that the custom thumbnail image will determine the shape of the thumbnail; if the thumbnail image is 16:9, that will be the shape of the thumbnail itself and same for 4:3.

    But, the thumbnails themselves only display a portion of the image because the side bits are hidden by the movie sprocket holes. So, black bars are needed to fill in the extreme sides so that the whole image is shown.

    Crop image to 1.42:1 eg 880x620, then add black pillarbox bars to make it 16:9 1.7888:1 eg 1110 x 620.

    For 4:3

    Thumbnail total: 570x430

    Image: 435x430

  3. Don't count on your TV's media player to display the cover art.
