  1. just wondering if i am along the right time frame here...

    whether i use panasonic/tmpge or nero to encode a video it takes hours...is there any faster way to encode or is this right...

    Yes. it takes a long time. Try using CBR or CQ. VBR will double your time. Add a filter like noise reduction and it can then triple your total time!

    I did a batch encoding test last night.
    SVCD 480x480, 46min12sec TV show with:
    Constant Quality=2240@100 (note: not 2215 w/CBR)
    Noise Reduction=818,
    Motion Search=very slow
    and it took me 8hrs25. 801,921Kb

    I then did the same video again
    Constant Quality=2240@100,
    Motion Search=slow
    and it took me 2hrs38. 812,397Kb

    They both look good, almost the same. For the time saved the second one looks Great.

  3. The Shield is awesome! Wish I can see more of it though, probably worth getting cable just for that ! The Comish is a real bad-ass, in the good sense.
