Try this website: https://videobolt.net/simple-video-tools/reverse
Drag & drop your video to where it says to on the webpage. Once it has uploaded you will get a "Reverse & download" button. It will then download.
I tried it with a 5 min video and it worked fine. No need to sign in or register.
I've no idea how many times you can use the site without registering, but I was able to do two videos.
The reversed videos played fine with both video and audio being reversed. -
Ok well i had no idea you was still working with very old technology, and still have old TV's in your home, but, 4k is wonderful for those with poorer eyesight like i have, especially for reading, however having a 65" 4k samsung tv in my lounge room and a 75" in out theatre room absolutely does wonders, no need for the glasses unless there is translated sub titles on the screen that are too small for me to read properly.
I shoot video every day, i am the go to videographer for my whole family for family related stuff, i still shoot weddings for anyone that needs it, and so i was always going to have a need to move with the times, and 4k is about where i will stay, i have a camera that records 6k and 8k, but VRD does not like it, cutting 6k or 8k video files on a time line is impossible, not sure if TMPGEnc Smart Renderer 6 and Mastering Works7 can handle it, and smart render them as well. -

In theory I assume you could go to the videohelp forum main page and create a new discussion .. the downside is that I doubt many VRD users regularly check that page and you'd have to wait for google etc to index your post to maybe get a reply. Assuming you can work out how to create a new forum topic. There's no "create new post" link on the forum home page.
In answer to your question ... the non-pro version does allow you to crop videos. Primarily aimed at removing the black pillars of 4:3 videos recorded off a 16:9 source, but a quick browse of the VRD help indicates the amount of cropping is adjustable, both sides and top/bottom. Details can be found by searching for 'crop' in the VRD help. I have VideoReDo TVSuite 6. Don't know if this option is available in other versions of VRD. I've never used it myself, so I'm limited to what's in the VRD help. There are even some preset crop options. -

i just had a go at cropping using my VRD Pro, it is rather strange in the way it works, so i just gave up, i will try the 2 links from october262
Thanks, i will take a look.
I did create a new Thread in the Editing Section, no replies so far.
I tried to keep this new Question out of this Thread so it does not go off topic again, don't want to ruffle any more feathers in here.
EDIT: seems like that guy in your Videohelp Thread link was trying to do what i need, but most of what was posted made no sense, it ended up in a bit of a crap fight i think, so it was closed.
Often happens in these forums when you have so many experts, and i noticed that even they can't even agree on a lot of stuff.
This is my new Thread.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has tried this Smart Media Cutter tool that i came across just now.
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/415875-Smart-Media-Cutter
I was in the following Forum where i was looking to find out if there is a way to add marker points in segments that i cut and joined using Losslesscut.
https://www.reddit.com/r/videoredo/comments/1f71j0s/im_trying_to_build_a_modern_versio..._of_videoredo/
I never heard about this new tool before, so i am going to have a play with version 1.0 and see what it can and can't do as a comparison to VRD Pro.
https://smartmediacutter.com/2024/09/15/version-1-0-launch/
Recently i have had to resort to using Losslescut as i have been getting so many 4k/60p HEVC files at like 144Mbps and my VRD Pro timeline is having issues with Seeking frames, which i didn't realize was going to be an issue going into the future.
Losslesscut only seems to work flawlessly for me with my 4k/60 HEVC files when cuts are made at keyframes only, but that does not concern me as a keyframe on a 4k/60p video file appears to be every 1 second or 60 frames, and i can live with that for the editing that i do, however i have not yet been able to find out how to get Losslesscut to leave a marker in the video files where segments were cut and joined, which VRD was able to do.
Obviously i still use VRD Pro to re-encode my files to other formats, but i might be lost right now without Losslesscut to trim my videos.
If anyone tries this new Smart Media Cutter tool then please post your report here, i am keen to see what others think of it.

I bet this guy who created Smart Media Cutter cops a heap of flack from certain members of this forum, for me, i personally want another tool that not only hase frame accurate cutting and joining, i also want it to output to other formats using a set of decent pre-set formats just as VRD has, but it seems like that day is probably still a long way off, sadly.Last edited by Bridgy; 8th Oct 2024 at 10:17.

It's called Smart Media Cutter in my software section. No I have no tried it.
-
I just tried it with my 4k/60p HEVC video files (60Mbps and 144Mbps) and unfortunately the playback of these files in the preview player are almost as laggy as they are in my VRD Pro, so Losslesscut wins out here for me just on playback.
Seeking is also very laggy, i skip just 1 frame forward and it takes a few seconds to skip to that frame in the preview pane, if i try to skip backwards, the frames sometimes ship forward.
I also find it very confusing how to set the cut points, there seems to be no buttons to click to set these points.
It would be nice to have at least 3 seek buttons with different time frames to choose from.
Will continue my testing, but for my files, it doesn't look good so far, and i doubt that anyone will ever build an all in one tool that does what VRD Pro does for me (and others) but i live in hope, Losslesscut so far seems to be the only tool that can handle playback and cutting/joining of my 4k/60p HEVC files flawless without any lagging, even if it is on keyframes only.Last edited by Bridgy; 8th Oct 2024 at 10:54.

It seems odd that some otherwise potential replacements fail because that lack the ability to convert and save into other file formats. I say odd because there are plenty of freeware and open source programs out there which will convert between formats, so it's simply a matter of an editor dev acquiring one of those licences are backending it onto their editor ... as is the case with VRD.
As for testing 4K, I can't help there ... because of vision problems, anything above HD is wasted on me. Such is life. -
As of now, i would not be using that Smart Media Cutter unless the guy improves the cutting tool tool, i find it to be a very clumsy and long winded process so far, especially that it seems to not handle my 4k/60p HEVC files very well, when Losslesscut does it perfectly without lag, just need to cut on keyframes to be accurate, i can live with that.
As far as a built in encoder goes, you are correct, there are free apps out there that could be built into his cutting tool, but maybe he is not interested in doing that.
If i spent more time trying to work out Handbrake, or one of those other free encoding tools, then i would just use that, my main issue with Handbrake is having to set my own RF quality factor and working out what the resulting bitrate might be, i mean i could work it out by testing, but i am just use to using Bitrate settings like we can use in VRD.
My other issue is that i do like to have Titles and/or credits in some videos, and VRD did that very well, even though it was a very basic title creator.
As mentioned previously too, why does Pegasys Software feel the need to force people to buy 2 of their programs to do cutting and encoding to other formats, why not have Smart Renderer for those who only need a cutting tool, an include the cutting tool in Video Mastering Works as an all in one, i mean their 2 programs are not so cheap, especially Video Mastering Works, which i think for the asking price, should be offering the same cutting tool built in.
Can i ask why 4k is wasted, you still see the picture regardless if it's 4k or 1080p, maybe you are referring to not being able to see the finer detail in 4k.
I have some small 4k/60p HEVC test files that i would like someone to run thru their VRD timeline, as well as test it with Losslesscut and this Smart Media Cutter as well, to see if the playback is laggy when previewing the video and also when seeking the cutting points. -
Why does Pegasys force user to purchase two pieces of software? The simple answer is that they can make more money that way. We are talking about commercialware software here, not freeware or open source, the function of which is not to satisfy customers but to make a profit.
I've used Handbrake for ages for converting file formats (I'm guessing that is based on ffmpeg), resizing, cropping (getting rid of pillarboxes) and so forth. As with anything, familiarity brings greater ease of use.
As for 4K, as I said, I have poor eyesight as a result of which I can't perceive any visual difference between 4K & HD. I actually have trouble telling the difference between SD & 4K, so any benefits of 4K are wasted on me. -
Yes i understand their reason for having 2 products that do separate things, which is fine for Smart Renderer which is fairly cheap to buy, but charging the horribly high price for Mastering Works and not include smart cut/render is a bit too much.
I would be happy to pay a bit more for mastering works if they included the Smart Renderer as well, allowing me to do everything within the one program.
Oh yes i know you explained this issue once before, and that was fine, i fully understood that, but when you mentioned As for testing 4K, I can't help there in your previous post, i thought you might have been referring to not being able to help me resolve my lagging issues with that new software by downloading a couple of short clips from my cloud storage and testing them out in VRD if you use it, or try playing them and cutting them in this new tool..
All good.Last edited by Bridgy; 8th Oct 2024 at 23:34.
