Well VideoRedo's website & forum are offline as of this week, and the update check is now failing because it can't see the server. Presumably license activation no longer works but I'm too afraid to try that

  2. There was a post from the other Dan on there fairly recently. IIRC it was basically saying that he was going to create a page on his website to let us manually activate VideoRedo, but that he couldn't do that for VideoRedo Pro. I can't remember why not. I'm fairly sure that I made a note of the link he provided, but not on the PC I'm sitting in front of. I'll try and remember to dig it out and post it here when I'm in front of that PC. (Unless someone here already has it?)

    It was https://videoredo.online/ ? per https://www.reddit.com/r/videoredo/comments/10miws9/this_is_a_good_idea/

However it's currently unreachable and the reddit thing is archived and not updatable.

EDIT: SEE Selur's POST BELOW, DO NOT USE HTTPS: ... USE http://videoredo.online/

  5. Website is down, as the CC for paying for hosting declined. A subreddit has been setup for the past year, when the website went down.

I think you have to enter the serial in VRD and using manual activation

    https://www.reddit.com/r/videoredo/comments/18nydtp/manual_activation_site_is_up_and_running/

Quote: After installation is completed, instead of using the automatic activation, you choose manual. It will show a User token and System ID, which you enter into the website. It generates a Activation token, which you enter into VRD.

  10. Do I understand correctly that I can only activate VideoRedo TV Suite if I have purchased a license key? I didn't buy VideoRedo. How can I activate or purchase it?

What about older versions prior to V6?
I have V4 and V5 and I find that V4 is better for editing .ts files. V5 & V6 give errors when saving.
I never got around to complain about this on the VRD Forum.

  12. Just want to say a massive THANK YOU to whoever put up https://www.videoredo.online/

My trusty 7 year old PC finally died the other day so was forced to get a new one with Win 11 ( ugh! I want Win 10 back! ). And have just now faced the horror of finding out the developer sadly died and VideoReDo won't activate.

Fortunately I found this forum and thread and managed to manually activate my new install. So...thank you, thank you, thank you.

So is there an option or replacement for those of us that didn't purchase this years ago?

The software company that produced VideoReDo and VideoReDo TV Suite is out of business. The company sold their products directly to customers, so there is no way to buy a left-over licensed copy from third-party sellers.

If someone wants a link to download a bootleg copy, they should not expect to get one here. Encouraging software piracy is against forum rules.

As far as substitutes go, Cypheros TS-Doctor includes some but not all of the TV-specific features provided by VideoReDo TV Suite.

  16. I presume if https://www.videoredo.online/ ever went away ( please no! ) then my manual key I got from there would still work in conjunction with my registered name and online key ? The algorithm used on the online keys would still always throw out the same manual key wouldn't it ?

  17. Hello, I have been using Videoredo for ages and am shocked that the company has ceased operations. I only bought the license for V6 last year (I had previously used V5). Where can I download Videoredo TV Suite 6 if I have a valid license key? I would like to install the software on my new PC. Thank you very much!

  18. There are certainly mirror sites our there to download version 6 if you Google for them but unless you have purchased a valid activation key for version 6 in the past they will be useless.

You will also need to do the MANUAL activation procedure NOT the online activation procedure using the site at: https://www.videoredo.online/

Start your newly installed v6 and choose to activate it. It will want you to put in your username you purchased the key under and the activation key ( a long string of characters you would have been sent when you paid for the software ). Then click activate online, but it will fail, but offer an option to activate manually.

Goto the site: https://www.videoredo.online/ and put in the same activation information you did when you were trying to activate it online. Then click the ACTIVATE button on that website. It will then give you a new manual activation key. Copy that new key into the Video Redo v6 manual activation field in the app and click ativate or OK ( I don't remember which ) and the software should unlock.

Remember to keep this new MANUAL key somewhere safe for the next time you might need to install the software again.

Here I provide my setup file (version 6.63.7.836).
The link is available for 50 days from today.

836d ? Very kind, thank you.

Of possible interest, the last one I saw to download was VRDTVS-6-63-7-836a.exe and that's also the version mentioned in https://www.videohelp.com/software/VideoReDo
    It's sha512 hash is
    Code:
    0d45842ed03bf594a3409d936030c0b88ebacb35b0801335d718d48fa5b6cea5d4f9205f883ce44220c1d43570fabcbf438542a15f1d1842d1444db69ac8c989
as generated in a dos box using: certutil -hashfile VRDTVS-6-63-7-836a.exe SHA512

    Cheers

edit: virustotal seems to think that the 836d download is OK and is signed by DRD Systems ok.

a gentle reminder: perhaps good practice is still to scan all downloads one makes, with virustotal and check the hits and the signature provenance

My thanks as well. My last downloaded & installed version is 836a so I wonder what the difference is? (I'm guessing it's very small and that I probably won't notice it.)

  23. I have a question about the manual registration. The manual registration site asks for the user token (XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX) & System ID. I am a long time user of Videoredo (since v1 as it happens) and already have a v6 licence key (10 sets of 6 characters). It's been ages since I had to re-register the product, so I'm more than hazy, but if I have the licence key and the associated user name, does that mean I don't have to worry about the manual registration site when I need to install videoredo on a new computer in the future?

Only just found the news when the check-for-updates failed to connect and I went looking here to find why.

Same here. I've been through all the versions as well and still have V5 and V6 installed on my PC. I find some of things I want to do work better with V5 and others with V6, but I'd hate to lose either program.

  25. That's exactly the same situation I'm in. This pc is getting on in years and will have to be replaced sooner or later & when that happens I'd like to be able to install videoredo on the new one. It does exactly what I want and I'm familiar with its operation, so I'd rather not have to to & find something else to do the same job.

There was a link to a reddit page somewhere above which I followed up. The manual registration page seems to be run by the guy who coded videoedo and he's promised to keep the manual registration site online for many years ... but one can never predict what the future may bring.

One could try installing it on another computer with the licence key, but I can't remember if the licence was just for one computer at a time or not, so I'm reluctant to try that in case it causes problems with videoredo on my main pc.

I've got them installed on a couple of computers (home computer/travel computer). One of my emails from VideoReDo years ago said they didn't mind that provided you weren't running them concurrently. I saw the link you referred to as well and bookmarked it, along with a copy of it in my travel email drafts.

  27. Thanks. I'll give that a try in a few days. The system ID is generated by videoredo and only lasts for a short time according to Dan on the reddit link. Short as in a few hours.

  28. The best competitor to Videoredo is SolveigMM Video Splitter - https://www.solveigmm.com/en/products/video-splitter/

It is a shame that the owner passed away. You would have thought that his wife would have made some sort of deal with the other developer so that development could continue.
