ok, I have an avi file wich I want to make a mpeg. so i read this: http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm and did exactly as was told. Now I have the mpeg wich when played only plays sound and plus, it's one GB. Maybe it's normal for it to be that bog of a file, but I don't know why it does'nt show the actual video. could someone help? thanx a lot.

If your AVI file was close to 100 minutes long, then 1GB would be normal for the VCD/MPEG-1 conversion (VCD is constant rate, 1124 kbit/sec video + 224 kbit/sec audio, roughly 10MB per minute).
As for not getting any video, does the file seem to play fine in, say, virtual dub "preview"? How about when you try "preview" in tmpgenc? As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
