When using the latest version of tmpgenc and encoding to any file type from any file type(tried all different sources and output types) the program gets all the way to 100% and then nothin. I have to hit ctrl alt del to stop the program. The file that it produces doesnt have audio but has video so my assumption is that it has trouble completing the final transfer. I tried not cacheing the temp and cacheing but no luck with any file type input or output. I had no problems using this program before on win98se but I'm on XP now. Using amd1.9 xp- 1g ddr ram- ati all in wonder radeon. Any help would be appreciated or you could point me to another encoding software with similar qualities.
Thanks.

Patience is a virtue. Yes, it does take a long time to end...several minutes but if you wait it will end. Tech Support said it should be corrected in this release but it still takes minutes ...sometimes.

When conerting a 5minute mpeg2 clip to vcd ntsc which normally takes about 25mins. Went to bed and it was still frozen in the morning.

That's too long. Here is a shot in the dark I see you have an Athlon Processor do you have mmx instructions under the cpu tab in environmental setting checked? Some of the mmx instructions are not supported by the Athlon and can cause it to hang.
-
3d Now I believe is an Athlon feature. You may find that TMPGEnc checks the processor and the appropriate mmx instructions are grayed out. Foe example, I have a Pentium and 3 D Now is grayed out.

The whole fact of the matter is that when you check the 3d now option that the first checkmark of mmx is enabled when you check 3d now. Just a little confused thats all.

Thanks for the help Lamont! I just unchecked everything in that window and worked like a champ. I'm sure it took a little longer than usual with those features off but works good with the athalon. Thanks a Million!

You should be able to run with 3D Now checked and the mmx instructions that get automatically checked. 3d Now is an Athlon feature. Athlon executes some MMX instructions but not those that are protected by intellectual property law.
