Tape deck - head cleaning tape

How do I perform a head cleaning using a head cleaning tape on a tape deck player? I only see documentation on how to do this to a camcorder.

is running play for 10 seconds sufficient? or does it need to be on record for 10 seconds?

I wouldn't use a head cleaning tape for anything. Take apart and clean properly.

Otherwise read instructions on the tape.
