  1. I have some PAL discs that I want to burn, but my Playstation only supports NTSC. Are there any cheap and reliable players that can play both PAL and NTSC standards?

if you copy & burn the dvd with dvdfab, the dvd will be region free.

  4. Most Philips DVD and Blu-Ray players can be made region free and work fine with all the DVDs I have tested. Unfortunately they are no longer being made....

True. The Philips DVD player I linked to is used/refurbished. I have a 2008 Philips DVD player that can play PAL DVDs if they are burned copies (no region code).

DVD players can't play MKV files. However, the built-in media players in many Smart TV media players will play them from a USB flash drive.

MakeMKV is a simple solution for creating MKVs from DVDs or mounted DVD ISOs.

I agree that it is a good option for a lot of people but there are people who don't want to change and learning something new is too difficult for others.
