If I were to try to play a PAL VHS tape in my NTSC player, I understand that I would not get any usable video. But would I get any audio? If yes, would it be hi-fi stereo or just the linear audio track?
(I also have a multisystem player to get the video, but it only has a mono audio output. I'm wondering if I can get the hi-fi stereo content via my NTSC player.)
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

You won't get hi-fi since the speeds are different, you will need a pal vhs player with hi-fi unless you find a multisystem player with hi-fi.

The linear audio track will sound like chipmunks because NTSC run faster than PAL.

No, it would run too fast. However, you can buy a multisysten player with hifi (they tend to be cheaper and easier to find than real PAL players, in the US). They both have a good audio output

I am OK with speed differences; I can fix that. I'm just wondering if I'd get any hi-fi audio at all.

Hi-fi only works if the head drum is running at the right speed, any slight speed difference and the hi-fi sound cuts out.
