How do you install/execute a folder with files in macOS?

Downloaded this zip folder "ctbrec-4.4.5-macos-jre.zip", extracted to "ctbrec-4.4.5-macos-jre", and there are 3 folders and 5 files in it (see attached), how do I run this?

I don't know anything about mac but i do know about Linux.
So start by reading README.md..

My guess is that this is a java program, if so install java ( i don't know if that is necessary hence the jre folder?) and double click ctbrec-4.4.5-final.jar

Thanks for the reply, I will try to double click on the .jar and pray that I don't have to factory reset my new Mac, lol!

Thanks for the link, but their instructions are only for using the default store or .dmg, my challenge here is macOS portable software!

Open it with a texteditor.

It could be a installer, but it also can be a script to start the application

The .sh file is a application start script, but it needs java to be installed in /bin/java

So install a java version (witch version i don't know) and give ctbrec.sh execute rights (i don't know how this is done on mac but Linux right click ctbrec.sh and choose properties, tab permission)

Then open a terminal with the directory where you extracted the zip (thus where the files are from the first image of this topic)
and type: ./ctbrec.sh (without root rights, sudo under linux)

This should start the application, but if not i can't help you any further

I got it working from your instructions!

- Install zulu17.36.13-ca-jre17.0.4-macosx_aarch64.dmg (Optimized for Apple Silicon M1/M2)
- Terminal check Java -version (to check JRE installation)
- Terminal CD and drag ctbrec folder after CD
- Terminal issue command ./ctbrec.sh
- Success

I got it right the first time. All thanks to you, I actually thought about taking it to the service center. Recently I also wanted to hide files and folders on mac, I didn’t know how to do it, I found https://setapp.com/how-to/hide-files-and-folders-on-mac information about this. Here, of course, we had to work hard, but it turned out that not everything was so simple. But everything worked out for me too, I hope it doesn’t harm my MacBook.
