  1. I am seeking help with reviewing files recovered from a ZOSI DVR HDD.
Most of the files are swf extension, I have done some looking and ended up here but I don't know enough what to do. I think I need to convert these files in some way in order to review any of the footage.
I have opened the files into MediaInfo and received this type of feedback:
    Code:
    General
    Complete name : D:\7617 dump\recup_dir.1\f109759640.swf
    Format : HEVC
Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding
    File size : 3.00 GiB
    FileExtension_Invalid : hevc h265 265

    Video
    Format : HEVC
Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding
    Format profile : Main@L4.1@Main
    Width : 960 pixels
    Height : 1 080 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 0.889
    Color space : YUV
    Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
    Bit depth : 8 bits
    Color range : Full
    Color primaries : BT.709
    Transfer characteristics : BT.709
    Matrix coefficients : BT.709
    Appreciate any feedback

  2. VLC player is supposed to be able to play .swf & maybe even convert them to another format.

You could try changing the extension to .flv & see if that makes playing them easier.

I tried to find a sample .swf but they were very small.

  3. I have tried changing the extension to a few different video formats including flv with no luck and VLC player is not showing any video

  4. VLC played the sample I found but Mediainfo showed it as a Shockwav with .mp3 audio.
It is not one I can upload on this forum.

The one you posted the MediaInfo on is too large for this forum.

If you have one 500MB or smaller & put in in a .zip file you can upload it here.

Also have you tried to play them with your browser ?

I may be off on a tangent but that looks like a bog-standard HEVC MPEG-4.

I'd try opening it in AVIDemux and change the output format to "MP4 Muxer" then save it. Leave everything else on default ie Video "Copy" and Audio "copy".

  6. Try Swivel

You could also use a flash decompiler and export the movies and sounds section

  7. Chrome just put the file in downloads rather than attempt to play it.
AVIdemuxer "could not find a demuxer for the file" - could not open the file (tried several of the files)
Swivel gave Error 2038 File I/O Error
JPEXS cannot load java io exception incorrect stream properties

These files were recovered from a DVR camera recorder's disk after the footage was deleted. They are not video files that have been exported. I used Photorec to retrieve the data, but I just don't know what should happen next for the files onhand to be reviewable.
Here is a small file from the folder.

Drag the file into mkvtoolnix GUI and remultiplex to MKV.
    Produces a working file
