Hello, For the past 5+ hours I have been trying to figure out how to burn multiple mkv videos to a bluray with a menu without any re-encoding. I have tried a lot of different programs including cyberlink power2go, multiAVCHD, dvd-creator, dvdfab and more. All of these programs encoded the video and it looks waay worse than the source. Even when using the quality option "same as source" in dvdfab it compresses it a lot and the output is really bad.
Is there any way to burn multiple mkv's to a bluray with a menu without losing quality?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

If the mkv's did not use BD compliant encoding settings, they need to be re-encoded so that they are compliant with BD spec.
-
Also you gotta do a proper encode with the right settings so the quality won't suffer as much.Tsmuxer doesn't do anything to the files other than making them m2ts,if the files are out of spec they stay that way unless re-encoded.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
I see... Would a remux of a blu ray be compatible since there's no re-encoding? Also, would I have to change any settings in lets say multiAVCHD or does it automatically detect that it doesn't need to be re-encoded? Thanks for all the help

If you demux a retail BD, yes
But you probably can't fit that many on a disc - it depends on the duration and bitrate. eg. If it's a full 2-3hr movie, you can probably fit only 1 because it already takes up most of the space on a BD25 . Even if you strip out all the audio and bonus features, you still probably cannot fit more than 1. If they are episodic series, such as 30min or 1hr TV dramas then you might be able to fit a few
Also, would I have to change any settings in lets say multiAVCHD or does it automatically detect that it doesn't need to be re-encoded? -
Okay, I tried again with dvdfab and multiavchd with a few episodes of stranger things I ripped with makemkv, but multiavchd kept crashing and dvdfab re-encoded them ( Also I checked and the video track is AVC
Do you have any recommendations for other software?
These are the settigns I used with dvdfab:

If there are different fps, resolution (1920x1080), avc profile and level re-encoding maybe required for compatibility with a blu-ray. But try a new mux for the video files you ripped with MakeMKV using MKVToolNix and then try your project again with multiAVCHD. It can work. Sometimes a new mux is enough to change everything.
Anyway I suggest you to use UsEac3to GUI to demux original video, audio and subtitles from bluray and mux with MKVToolNix. MakeMKV isn't exactly the best software. -
It doesn't work I keep getting an error and multiAVCHD crashes: (RT) Invalid array index. Array is empty - Line 35926.
-
scenarist bd - expensive, learning curve
encore cs6 - discontinued but still works, easier to use than scenarist
one potential issue is using the "MKV" container strips the sequence headers, this can make the video stream non compliant for strict BD authoring such as when using scenarist . For non strict tools, it should be ok -
Look, try this:
First try: install multiavchd in a new folder (or uninstall and reinstall if it isn't a problem losing your custom settings) and try to get what you want without changing the original settings, a basic project with default settings, to understand if the problem for your files is YOUR settings or the software itself.
Second try: if the problem is not solved, try using the softwares I told you in the previous post and then multiavchd for a different result. -
I used mkvtoolnix to remux it again and then reinstalled multiavchd and used the default settings. Still crashed. I have avisynth and java installed.
I'm going to try and get encore and try that instead.
Alright I'll try that, if I understand correctly the process you suggest is: pop blu ray in the reader, demux with UsEac3to GUI to the individual video, audio and subtitle files, then remux them to mkv with mkvtoolnix? -
Exactly. Maybe it can solve your problem.
Anyway, I did a multiavchd test using three .mkv video files and Multiavchd had no problem creating an avchd structure.
For video file information:
Video: h264 (High), yuv420p(tv, bt709, progressive), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], Closed Captions, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 1k tbn
Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1(side), fltp, 384 kb/s
Subtitle: subrip
Now, the question is: in multiavchd, in the "Author" section, did you select PAL or NTSC for your video files? And in "Menu", for the menu type, did you select static or motion? Because these details could make a difference for the copying of video and audio for a different fps or for some problem for the software in the creation of the menu. For my test I used the static menu with the Pal TV system, selected AVCHD (strict) as the target media and had no problems creating an AVCHD. -
If you installed java 64 you will need to install java 32 as well,i had to do that for my system, also set multiavchd to run under administrative mode.

So I couldnt get UsEac3to to work, it just throws me an error saying: The format of the source file could not be detected :/. I tried looking for a solution but the solution was using delaycut but it only accepts mkv files etc.. :/
I installed both java 64 and 32 and started the program in admin. I'm using NTSC in the settings since the blu ray is from the us.
These are all my settings with the first episode of stanger things straight from makemkv,

This is what the log shows right as I press start, https://forum.videohelp.com/images/imgfiles/ZtLLO9R.png
Then after a few minutes it shows this, https://forum.videohelp.com/images/imgfiles/8uRNS8j.png and I get this, https://forum.videohelp.com/images/imgfiles/zm7rkLD.png error then the program crashes....
I will try to get UsEac3to to work again tomorrow since it's getting late. And also I couldn't find any way to download adobe encore
Update: Tried again with PAL and the same error occurred
Update2: Tried just using random mkv files and transcoding them as you would regularly and it gave me this,
[04:42:16] *** Transcoding failed!
[04:42:16] *** Check ffdshow/avisynth/haali (reinstall)!
[04:42:16] >>> Download links: http://multiforum.deanbg.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17
[04:42:16] *** DEBUG: Try to play [c:\multiAVCHD\_TEMP\multiTEMP-20220710\20220710-044212-uncrop-running.avs] in MPC or other player, which supports AviSynth scripts and report the error to the author!
But the other error didn't show up and the program didn't crash. I tried ,reinstalling ffdshow, avisynth and haali, changing ntsc to pal, changing the destination media to AVCHD Disc.Last edited by maltersxd; 9th Jul 2022 at 22:45.

And do you know why? Because the protection of Blu-ray is on. If you don't use some software like AnyDVD HD, that virtually removes the restrictions of DVD and Blu-ray media in background, is impossible to do anything with the others software. If you use these type of software the DVD or Blu-ray will become useable for all programs on your computer.
Compilation does not contain any hd-dvd? Weird mistake for Blu-ray profile... You didn't choose hd-dvd I suppose. However try deselecting the pop-up menu and title list menu as well for a simpler thing for the software. And select AVCHD (strict) as the profile, not Blu-ray disc.
In my case my files were 25 fps but in your case you don't need that change, because yours are 23.976 fps.
Try installing those software to see if they can fix your problem. -
Alright great news!
Using AnyDVD worked and I could use UsEac3to and mkvtoolnix. And with the new mkv file multiAVCHD had no problems! I tried with both AVCHD strict and with blu ray and both exported with no problems! And no re-encoding!
Thanks for the help everyone -
Okay so after a few hours of messing around I stumbled upon a YouTube video about multiAVCHD and the guy said that instead of manually installing AviSynth, Haali and ffdshow, you can just install AviSynth and the K-Lite_Codec_Pack instead. So I did that and now multiAVCHD has worked with every h.264 mkv I've thrown at it, even the one from makemkv!!!

Never install k-lite codec pack,it might get things going but it usually screws up other apps.
