I did a Google search using keywords like "dead cat", "windjammer", "microphone", "wind sock", or similar words, and got a lot of hits. Don't know if any of them are for that particular mic model. However, wouldn't you be using a blimp/zeppelin? If so, you should be looking for dead cats that fit them. You could also fairly easily make one as there are a number of DIY tutorials on the subject.

As a feline admirer, I would rather they had been called "a recently washed cat!". Anyway not a term in wide use south of the equator.

I can understand your concern, however the term "deadcat" for a wind muffler is a very common term used in conjunction with external microphones. They are advertised everywhere as such but you obviously are not aware.

However you have not answered my question so your comments are not really relevant to my query

Thank you for looking it up for me and yes they do one which i already have but it has short hair not the long hair as per photo above the one behind is from the sennheiser and the hair is twice the length.
The longer the hair the better the wind is deflected
Here is an example video i did on another camcorder using the Gutmann deadcat. If you play until the end you will see how good it is. you can just see the hairs at the end of video

I am in contact with Gutmann to see what they come up with

Odd that, as the term originated at Rode Microphones AFAIK

Realspeed, have you tried Rycote? Alternatively make one or get one made, furry material is relatively easily obtainable for making toys, with varying hair lengths and it doesn't take a seamstress long to knock one up.

  8. Rycote microphone is a slightly different shape and again only has short hairs, It is not just the material but the density and backing of it as well. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. the bottom picture i posted is what I am after. the longer the hair the more the wind gets deflected.

I had a mike which came with only a foam shield which was pathetic in wind. My wife made me a furry cover for it that went over the foam and it worked extremely well. I can't say how much HF loss there was, I don't have that kind of measuring equipment, suffice it to say getting decent audio in the wind is more important to me than none at all.

I went through a similar search to you a few years back while looking for a deadcat for a Canon DM-100, I found a company in the States that was very helpful and made me a long haired one for it which, incidentally, I had to trim in strategic places because it got fur in the frame, but unfortunately they went out of business.

This shotgun mic cover looked like it had longer hair than any of the others that I saw: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HWS6--zoom-hws-6-hairy-windscreen-for-shotgun-microphones.

  11. Yes but for a shotgun mic but not for the type of mic I have, but thank you for looking. I think there is a niche in the market of mic I have and that needs filling by some company or other making long haired mics for the kind I am after and also made by Rhode

Sorry about that. This is the only mic cover with extra long fur for camera mics that I saw: https://www.zoom.co.jp/products/product-accessories/wsu-1-universal-windscreen It claims to be "universal" but I can't tell if it would fit your mic. I guess you'd need to see one in person.

I have already looked at most for sale but all are short haired ones or wrong shape/size etc

this is what i have at the moment which cuts out almost all wind noise Fur over sponge setup, if I could find the same with long hair I am sure that would cut out 100%. If on a boat on a cruise being on top deck beating wind rumble would be marvellous
