I have spent weeks learning the tricks to rip DVDs successfully. I can parse most movies easily now without needing to re-encode and author the DVD. This has worked well for me as the process preserves the audio stream of choice. But now I am getting frustrated as every attempt I have made to preserve the audio on re-encoded movies has failed. The final product is always in PCM. I have been playing with DVDit PE 2.5 but it only supports PCM and two channel Dolby Digital. I have not bothered with SpruceUp as it does not output to 16:9. I have looked for DVDMaestro but I have had no luck there. While I don’t expect anyone to hold my hand through this I am hoping that someone here will steer me in the right direction.
Thanks in Advance,
David

This is a hack for SpruceUp that allows for the 16:9 stream. Check here in the DVD/miniDVD of doom's forums. I remembered it being mentioned here once. http://rilanparty.com/vbb/index.php?s=
As for the rest, sorry got no leads for you, but another app called DVD Wise supports 5.1 DD as well. -
it's very easy...rip your movie in smartripper in movie mode and enable stream processing...you'll get a dolby digital files (ac3) and a movie file (m2v)...now if you have to re-encode the movie file because it's too big, you still have a seperate dolby digital audio file...you can then import your movie file and your seperate dolby digital audio file into your DVD authoring program...
...and by the way, you can do 16x9 with SpruceUp...all though the program doesn't directly support it, you simply export your finished movie from SpruceUp as a Title Set...you will get an Audio_TS and Video_TS folder with the movie files in them...you then edit just one value in your main .IFO file and your movie plays in the perfect aspect ratio...SpruceUp supports Dolby Digital..all you have to do is make sure your movie files and your DD file have the same name, they will automatically be imported as one file with audio and video....for the details on every thing that I've mentioned here follow the step-by-step tutorial at:
