Thank you for all your help. I'm now trying to choose a USB capture device. There's a used Pinnacle USB-500 on eBay with the box and all components. Then there are the Hauppauge 610, the IOData GV-USB Japanese version, and I wonder about the ClearClick Video to USB. All are fairly close in price. Any recommendations? (My last question, I promise )

I would go for the IOData GV-USB Japanese version, USB-500 works fine under Win 7, It lacks drivers for modern OS's. Stay away from all crearclick products.

Thank you for all the help. My last question: Which capture device to choose between a "lightly used" Pinnacle USB-500 in the box with all components, or the Hauppauge 610, or the IOData GV-USB, and what about the ClearClick Video to USB? All are similar in price.

Sorry for the repeat question, an accident. I've ordered the IOData GV-USB2 Japanese version. There's also a"newer" model, the GV USB2/E, slightly cheaper, but I went with the GV-USB2 in case cheaper means an unwanted downgrade in the chipset.

TRV81/TR81 Ooops, sorry about that. The TR81 still looks like a quite capable camcorder; it is Hi8, so I assume it's overall quality will be good provided it's in reasonable shape. It has S-Video Out, which you should use (better than Composite/Yellow ). You'll need an S-Video cable, in addition to the normal red+white for audio.

I concur with Dellsam; I use the GV-USB2 and have no issues with it under Win 10 and 11.

Thank you! The camcorder is in excellent condition, so fingers crossed this will work out well.
