who here, living in North America, has electronics rated to work on (typically) 100 to 240 or 250 volts and has it powered by (plugged in to) 240 Volts 60 Hz instead of the usual 120 Volts? i've done this with a computer and the current at double the voltage was less than half as much (so it was using less Wattage). i have found one UPS model that could handle the North American configuration (Edison split-phase 120+120) and support up to 2500 VA.
