  1. Ok, i downloaded all of the staragate sg-1 episode rips. They are AC3. I converted the first 5 without any problem. Then i started converting the rest without testing them. After the first season (21 episodes), i started to burn them to CD and i realized the one I was burning the sound didnt work. I went back and tested the otehr ones I had spent hours converting. Low and behold most of them didnt work. About 5 out of the 15 worked, and those 5 were in no particular order in my converting sequence. On all the rest, after exactly 6 minutes into the movie, the sound stopped. I am using TMPGenc to convert them. For the AC3 I raised the priority of direct show to 2. I converted the first 5 just fine. I checked to make sure the DIVX files played right and they did. I also tried using tooLame to do the audio. same problem. Then I tried using a different type. I tried SVCD instead of VCD, and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why the sound just stops after 6 minutes? Is this something wrong with the DIVX file that I am converting? Thanks in advance...

EDIT: They do in fact work in SVCD format. It is only VCD that does not work. I re-installed TMPG-enc in case the templates were messed up, but still no luck with VCD format.

I'm not sure if this is the cause of your problem but TMPGenc is not a very good ac3 decoder. Use azid instead. Get besweet, its a gui which combines, among other programs, ssrc, toolame, and azid to produce arguably the highest quality ac3 to mp2 conversion possible. One thing is for sure, this method is much more reliable than using TMPGenc.

You can find besweet and a guide on how to use it at www.doom9.net.
