My AverMedia C285 loses the input signal within a few seconds of starting a recording. Signal comes back fine as soon as I stop the recording or when using the menu functions. Any fix for this?
If the unit is bad and un-repairable, what would be the best (currently made) replacement model? Can't find this model anymore.

No. Just weather & discovery channel programming and old shows from a cable box DVR. Been doing it for years without a problem. I was actually using the component video input after the HDMI input got knocked out in a thunderstorm a couple of months ago.
