    Hello Everyone!

I apologize ahead of time because I am quite tech illiterate.

I decided to use my roommate's Vidbox interface and program to capture video from a VCR to my HP Laptop. I got everything loaded and it captured 2 hours of video, using the Vidbox program, yet when I watched it back there was some ever so slight lagging in places. Not horrendous or overly choppy, but enough that I noticed it. We attempted a sample of the same video on his laptop (Macbook) using the same VCR and Vidbox and it was far more pristine.

I deleted some larger files on my computer and tried optimizing the hard drive. No defrag was needed. It appears that my main CPU is average at about 7-8% yet my Memory is averaging about 48-57%. To attempt to offset this, I also followed a YouTube video to lower the memory, yet it doesn't seem to do much.

I began reading forums on this great site and one suggested that if you were having lagging issues, perhaps try CaptureFlux - particularly since there is a new great version of that out this year that is debugged. Since CaptureFlux had buffering capabilities (which I am guessing Vidbox doesn't?), this might be the solution to my issue. I downloaded and used it. The video is now fairly pristine - as good as it's gonna get - yet there is no audio.

I am not sure if perhaps using the vidbox interface is causing this? There is a Yellow and black AV cord that plugs into the back of the VCR (the black chord connects the red and white into one plugin) and those chords -red, white and yellow - plug into the Vidbox interface. There is also a black chord that goes from the vidbox to the USB port on the laptop.

When I run the CaptureFlux program, I can see the video preview but I hear nothing. The audio source options on CaptureFlux are Vidbox USB audio capture, Microphone array (which uses my mic on the laptop and i hear myself talking), Stereo Mix (which sounds like crazy heartbeats) or no audio.

I was wondering if there was something I am doing that is preventing me from being able to get audio on this program?

And here's some info about my Laptop:
    HP Laptop - hp pavilion x360 convertible 14m cd0xx
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz 1.80 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.84 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    Windows 11

    Thoughts?

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this?
No one has responded and I'm not sure if that's because no one has any ideas or whether I've asked a question that seemingly has a ridiculously easy fix?

    Please help!

I keep reading up on this and perhaps I don't have the correct filter for the audio?

When I read under "System" and then go under "Filters", it says:
    Windows Media Found
    DivX encoder not Found
    mp3 encoder not Found

Because I am missing those 2 encoders, is that why - perhaps - this program is not capturing the audio?

I find that odd because it did capture it using the actual Vidbox program. I would use that, but I get the lagging (as stated above).

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I suspect nobody has used this program, hence your lack of feedback.

This "vidbox" is supposed to supply capturing software for use with its products.
Is this the software you're talking about or something different?

Perhaps you should get your phone out and take some pictures, especially the back of the vcr,
the cables, how it's connected, and the connection to the vidbox

I use the program sometimes but without screenshots on what setting you are using no one will be able to help. Keep in mind not all capture devices allow audio preview in the driver during capturing to avoid conflicts of device usability.
