    i have a question is it possible to drag the .vob files from your dvd to your hard drive then convert them from there?

    no...the vobs are encrypted and you will not be able to view them later...you need to use a ripping program (i.e. smartripper, dvddecryptor, claddvd) to remove the CSS protection that's in the vobs, once they're removed, you can do wutever u want w/ the vobs
