I've downloaded the movie, "The Man Who Wasn't There"
and I'm having a hell of a time getting audio out of it, or
getting it into a format where I can burn it as a VCD.
It all started when I couldn't get any audio to play. Please see:http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=90198. As
you can see from this post and it's following threads, I've
gone from one codec to another without any success. So,
I decided to see if I could get audio from the movie in it's
intended format of VCD.
Due to sync problems, I always pull the audio out of the
file using VirtualDUB, and then when converting to MPG,
reintroduce the audio. I've never had any problems with
this process and it seems to work perfectly everytime.
With this particular movie, I'm getting this error message:
"The requested audio compression is not compatible with
the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel
count of the input match those of the reqeested format."
I went to the Properties page of the movie's AVI file and
gathered this info:
Image
Width.....................640 pixels
Height....................352 pixels
Audio
Duration.................0:57:31
Bit Rate..................448kbps
Video
Frame Rate.............23fps
Data Rate...............207kbps
Video sample rate...24 bit
Video compression..DIVXMPG4 V3
I've gone back to the DivX v3.11 Alpha codec. In conjunction
with the v4.12 codec. But I'm willing to try any that may help.
I'm at a lost for what I need to do to get the audio to play and
in turn, get the movie burned as a VCD?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes part of it is. But microsoft had something called mpeg-4 if I remember right. Have you tried the new DivX 5.01?
www.divx.comMay the force be with you. -
It sounds like the audio is Dolby %.1 AC£ format ripped striaght from the DVD. I am seeing a lot of Divx movies done this way recently. To convert to VCD you need to extract the audio (as you know). This can be done using BeSweet (Left, under tools) and convert to a stero wav. Then proceed as normal.
Hope this helps -
