I searched through Google a lot and still can't find an answer about this but I learned that it probably has to do with mks type embedded subtitles. If I stretch the video on VLC Player, subtitles look fine, I think subtitle resolution follows the video resolution. I am trying to watch The Lighthouse movie where the aspect ratio is 1296x1080 and not 1920x1080 which must be why it's happening. There really should be a simple solution to this as watching it through Windows's shitty movie player app doesn't squish the subtitle, but all the other third party players squish it.
I uploaded screenshots from both apps to demonstrate the issue.

Why not use the original video you ripped since its 1920x1080 from the blu-ray,it will play good in all media players then.

The video was cropped or resized and the subtitle was not. You can try OCR on the sub using subtitle edit so it is text and not an image.
