  2. You can't just copy a DVD, you need to rip it and then use an encoder and an Authoring to copy a DVD to a VCD or SVCD.

To do a DVD to DVD, you need a DVD Writer, and you still need to rip the DVD to your HDD using a Ripper.

Follow the guides in the DVD RIP section for more instructions.

  3. I do have a dvd writer pioneer a04 and in nero 5.5 it does have a spot to click on for copying dvd's but every time I do it says it's copyrited. So I guess your saying the only way to do a copy is to rip it first.

  4. You have to get the "Macrovision" off the DVD first and the only way to do that is RIP first, look under the DVDR section to the left of this and you will see how to do a direct "DVD BACK Up" after your rip

  5. Vince,
All retail DVDs are copyprotected. You need to 'rip' these DVDs to your HD to remove macrovision & regional encoding. Also note that the DVDs you will be coping are almost always larger (5-7 GB on avg) than a DVD-R ytou intend to copy it to. So you will need to learn how to parse out unwanted extras to reduce the movie size before even attemping to copy the DVD. There is also a good chance that even after you parse the extras that the rip will be too large for your DVD-R. Should this happen you will now need to learn how to reauthor the DVD.

Refer to the guides and get all the tools you can find.
