  1. Hello.
I want to do simple video editing with video using 640X480 at 1280X720. Nothing really profissional.
Trying DaVinci_Resolve_17.3.2 Linux version, but requires more than 2 GB VRAM.
GPU is GF GT 640 1 GB.
What DaVinci Resolve last previous version was possible edit with the video resolution above in an GPU with 1 GB VRAM ?

    Thanks for read.
    Have an nice week.

  2. Quick search through https://www.videohelp.com/software/DaVinci-Resolve/version-history shows that the 2GB VRAM was first mentioned when DaVinci Resolve was released. So you probably have to look for a 15.x version.

  3. Hello Selur. All right with you ? Thanks for reply me.
Doing an find word from end to start from page https://www.videohelp.com/software/DaVinci-Resolve/version-history really point to version 16.
Have anothers forums with users using version 15 with 2 GB VRAM.
I only want edit SD 480P and few times 720P. Not 1080P.
Also I want understand if the Davinci Resolver free edition is possible use color correction without watermark because is exactly the only feature in moment that I need.

  4. SDR Color grading works fine with the free edition.
Free is slower since it doesn't support hardware accelleration, but that shouldn't be an issue for color grading.

  5. Testing using Davinci Resolve 17.3.2 Linux.
Not is possible import mkv (H264) and avi (xvid).
Thus I had converted to Apple ProRes and import was possible.
The video is 320X240 is only importing in timeline and doing playback use 557 MB VRAM.
Selecting Color \ Auto colorization the VRAM usage goes to 848 MB.

I not have information if previous versions 15.X have the good color correction thus how is the 17.X.
    I will test using 480P and 720P.
Davinci Resolve not import mkv h264 ? Is how only use profissional video format ?

  6. https://documents.blackmagicdesign.com/SupportNotes/DaVinci_Resolve_16_Supported_Codec_List.pdf lists all the supported formats and no .mkv container isn't supported.

  7. Tested using an video 640X480 and the VRAM usage is the same how if using 320X240.
Even thus not the VRAM free is less of 100 MB after using color autocolorization.
Need more search if several previous version is possible use color correction tools with only 1 GB VRAM.
