  1. I want to have overlapping subtitles until a max of subtitles is reached, is there a way to do that with Subtitle Edit or another program?

    For example, if I set it to max 3 and a 4th sub comes in, it would remove the oldest one.

    If I have:
    01:00 --> 01:30
    01:05 --> 01:35
    01:10 --> 01:40
    01:15 --> 01:45

    It would change it to:
    01:00 --> 01:15
    01:05 --> 01:35
    01:10 --> 01:40
    01:15 --> 01:45

    Not sure exactly what it is you want since you say you want a maximum of 3 lines but show 4 but rhat sort of thing is available with .ass type subtitles. You cannot have times the same arriving after that time has expired.

    Your 4th line would need to be later and placed on the screen position of the oldest line. Or do you want strictly .srt type subs?

  3. It would only show a maximum of 3 lines since the first would disappear right as the 4th appears, I'm trying to simulate a chat scrolling but I ended up just making a new subtitle for each new message that I want to show, grouping it with the previous ones and no overlapping.

    So now I have:
    01:00 --> 01:05
    Hi
    01:05 --> 01:10
    Hi
    Hello
    01:10 --> 01:15
    Hi
    Hello
    Morning
    01:15 --> 01:20
    Hello
    Morning
    Bye
