  2. you can also check ' sync data transfer',if you can get into your BIOS try to see it sets to auto or off(it should be set to auto). What is your system(please detail) ?

  5. Have you tried my suggestions ? If the thing is still the same try to run only one app at the time, use Ctrl+Alt+Del to close not needed running background , defrag hard dive often. Did you check BIOS to see your DVD drive is set to AUTO or OFF (should be AUTO),this can make a big different.Let me know how it's going .

I have a pioneer 16x DVDROM and the same thing happened to me, could only rip at ~2x. After trying all the fixes, i.e. enable/disabled DMA, mess with the sync data transfer and so on, I finally found the answer ... reinstall windows. After I did that, I rip at 5x-10x.

  7. I doint really wanna go down the route of reinstalling windows for the 5th time everything else is working great it only crashes about once every 4 months so i would rather try to fix the problem if not them maybe ill buy another drive and start over and just use that for ripping etc.
    thanks thou

  8. Did you try using different dvds? That may be the problem. Your may be dirty. Also, let it go for awhile. It starts to speed up.

  9. I have a Delta 12x DVD-ROM, when I was running win98 it ripped at 0.7x-1x (smartripper) if I turned on DMA the computer would lock up/refuse to start.

I upgraded to winME and was able to turn on DMA and now rip at 4-8x. Also installed the newest VIA 4in1 drivers for my MB/chipset.

  10. I am running win2k/98 dual boot.
I own 12x Samsung and I use to rip at max 2x. After reinstalling both OS, now I am able to rip at max 1.4x.

I have tried UDMA, BIOS, IDE Driver upgrade but no luck!
