There's no such thing as "mp4 dvd". Either you have a dvd iso (or files and folders on drive) utilizing vobs which contain mpeg2 video, or you have an mp4 file(s) that is a rip+conversion from the above, and mp4 does not support menus (neither does mkv).

Same difference. Both dvd and bluray have no menu equivalent in mp4, mkv. Closest one could get would be a sidecar html file w links to clips..if the player accepts it. Asx/wvx metafiles can do playlist but even they don't do menus.

Menus never got finalized for mp4 or mkv. Mov had a form of this, but the creation was complex pain, now uses very defunct software. Adobe/Macromedia director & flash had a similar capability, but that is gone now also.

  5. Thanks for replies.

Its been many years since i've done any Video Conversion's i should have realised. If i remember, couldn't you make Dvix discs with menus at one time? However i may be wrong.

    Thanks

You are thinking of Divx Ultra. You could try that, but you would have to use 20 year old proprietary technology to create the divx file (a glorified AVI file), into that proprietary format, that was never as common/popular as even dvd or bd. And you would have to use a player that was explicitly certified to support divx ultra menus, which means probably either certain old hardware players, and cyberlink powerdvd, and maybe that's it? A very Rube Goldberg sort of solution and one which loses a good deal of quality in the process. That alone would be a deal breaker for me.

Since it is established that no straight-to-disk program exists for native mp4 and re-encoding is the only option beit something simple like avstodvd which will give you a menu.

Another more evolved option would be MultiAVCHD which will take your mp4 files, create a file system on a regular dvd but for playback in a blu-ray player (no support for a dvd player). This will also give you a menu.
