  2. The datavideo recorder will give you a nice image quality, and more if you are transfering via firewire.
    In the other hand...
The Datavideo recorder is a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!
At the post facility where I work, some guy had the bright idea he could deliver cdDVD´s to our clients as a cheap and high quality option.
Since this format is not a standard, clients have returned the discs all the time because they cannot play them back.
Then this same guy offered svcd´s but they are only viewable on PC (not mac) and svcd compatible dvd players. Clients returned them again.
Then he offered videocds. The format is widely available, as you know. But datavideo´s vcd quality really sucks!
And best of all It doesn´t like any cd brand. It loves Samsung (the colored ones) It hates sony, verbatim and quantegy so much it turns them into shit.
But I must thank the Datavideo for something: I finally could afford a new Compaq equipped with a Pioneer DVD burner and I´m doing at home all DVD´s and VCD´s for our clients, as they seem to love the quality I deliver. (I use DVCAM for transfers)

If you need to record svcds straight from live tv signal, there´s only one choice, and it IS the datavideo. In that format it ROCKS!

Just keep in mind the issue about cd brands. OK?
In this industry, Sadly, The future was yesterday.
