  1. i have an mkv file which is 599mb. it's properties are:-

    the file size is small for a 2 hour movie and it's in good quality. i want to know how can i make a similar small sized good quality avc1 mkv file in handbrake?

  3. Simple. Filter out all grain and fine detail before encoding. And don't forget to start with animated material. It compresses more easily.

    Encode with vidcoder,you won't get the same quality for the same file size.

    To see details of the encoder settings used, open the file
    in Mediainfo, set view>text and post the info here

    If you are targeting small sizes then chose bitrate control and set it around 700kbps to 800kbps for 1280×720 resolution videos and for audio set around 90kbps to 128kbps it will give you good AV(audio video) quality....you can also reduce bitrates but that will decrease your AV quality but also decrease file size

    You can also select presets which can improve AV quality in same bitrates but it will take more of encoding time...just like you make an zip file if you set ultrafast preset then it will give less compression and if you set slow preset and give you good compression but it will take more time
