I won't bore you with my long story but I want to get a media streamer/player/server that has the following functions:
- plays 4K video
- plays Dolby Atmos
- ability to connect a USB hard drive on which to store and play videos
- the player and hard drive are accessible by Ethernet or WiFi over which files can be transferred using Windows File Explorer.
- pre-installed Amazon Prime Video
I've done some searching and the only unit I have found that seems to have these capabilities is the NVIDIA - SHIELD Android TV Pro. I've read the on line manual and it appears to have these specs.
I've previously been surprised that electronics I have purchased didn't have all the capabilities that I thought. I talked to a Best Buy sales person about this unit and did not feel comfortable with his knowledge of this unit.
Therefore, if anyone has one of these units, I'd appreciate it if you could confirm these specs.

I don't have an NVIDIA Shield TV Pro but I can tell you one thing about it. It is able to play most but not all types of video used for 4K content at up to 60fps. However, it won't play video encoded using VP9 Profile 2 or AV1 at any resolution. These are newer formats used for streaming video and they were not yet common when the Tegra X1+ SOC was released.

Plays 4K Video = Yes
Plays Dolby Atmos = Yes (I use Kodi)
Ability to connect a USB hard drive on which to store and play videos = Yes
The player and hard drive are accessible by Ethernet or WiFi over which files can be transferred using Windows File Explorer = Yes
Pre-installed Amazon Prime Video = Yes
The Shield can do everything you want and more, I have two, 2015 and 2019 Pro Model and both do all the above.
If you're going to buy one and want all of the above, make sure it's the Pro version if 2019 model. Older base models 2015 and 2017 will also do the above. -
ditto - as TE 16 posted.

...a little harsh.
I don't want to start a flame war but:
- I didn't go into the "long story".
- I did Google and read the manual before posting (and said that in my post)
- Since I have been disappointed before, I just wanted a little confirmation before I laid out a few hundred dollars for the NVIDIA
