I have many videos of a course, they are .mp4, i use VLC to play them. If i visualize them full screen all goes well, but if i visualize them in vlc sowftware window (doesn't matter the size, even at full screen) they will be grainy.
Any hints for what could cause this?

What codec are your mp4 files encoded with? Can you upload a sample video? Also, if you could use Mediainfo on the file, look at view > tree and paste that into a reply here.
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly
