For the love of all that is holy, stop asking for help downloading videos that you should pay for. It is against forum rules, it's insulting to people who work very hard to produce videos and get a pittance for their efforts. I for one will not help you. If you're broke, get a better education and or job. If you're just cheap, well that explains a lot. just STOP.
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly

There is nothing that says these bans on non-paying sites that have DRM.

  3. DRM is cancer.
    Geo blocking is also cancer.
They should be beaten so we can enjoy life at its fullest.

It's this the studios really need to sort out. This is what leads to piracy as people can't legitimately purchase / watch it.

This is a 3 min trailer of a TV series I wanted to see, however the sole "rights holder" here in my country only shows these on live TV and is full of add's - additionally they only had a couple of the seasons on their streaming platform - only the most recent. I wanted to binge watch the whole lot from the start.

It's this that leads to piracy, vpn usage, stream downloading etc... I searched for all the seasons to purchase legitimately so I could sit down and watch them all. All I could find was US streaming sites with geo blocking - I actually did try searching for the Bluray/DVD's also - however this particular series was not released on a physical medium. In the end I used a VPN, downloaded the whole lot to a USB stick and plugged it into my TV. Also because my TV was not purchased in the US, I couldn't install their streaming app either, so downloading was the only way...

The studio's are complaining about piracy and how it hurts their business, how they lose millions of dollars, however if they made content available globally for everyone, then I'm sure piracy would be much less of a problem.

Content providers distributing/leasing their content to a sole right's holder in one country is an old model used well before the days of the internet, they really do need to up their game because that model is no longer relevant in this day and age.

It is not a matter of willing to pay or not.
VRT.be is free to watch after registration. But downloading is not always possible because of drm.
I need to download first because my internet connection is too slow for streaming. Example:

Drm is ok for pay sites since it prevents people from getting free videos.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  7. how it does that, if it requires active subscription to request the mpd/m3u8?

We all know that DRM can often be broken. The question is whether it should be discussed
    Openly in this forum

    Ask the Staff (?)

They are very selective in what they allow / dont allow with no logic applied to the thinking. Maybe because they are gleaning the information and ripping themselves (?)

Youtube copyright is ok to circumvent and download and is considered fair game as its free, but someone still owns the content on every channel - biggest thread on here (https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/382423-YoutubeVideoDownloader-download-video-and-a...from-900-sites) I wonder if they have 2 different rules for YT ? One for the free, and one for the paid YoutubeTV ?

Maybe its the £ that drives the rules ? Paid is no-go but free side is ok ? So is it £ or is it copyright that drives the rules ?

    WV is open for discussion

Dumping L3's to facilitate WV circumvention is ok

Amazon Prime / NF discussion is banned

In the past it seemed anything was up for discussion as long as it wasn't a subscription($$) site.
Not sure if that's still the case. Personally I find these kinds of posts with people begging for help to
download some crap from a site distasteful and I wish it wasn't in this forum at all.
That's just at my own bias. It's not my site nor am I an Admin;. I still enjoy the site and do my best to avoid
    the aforementioned "content"

Due to past threads I've participated in and questions I've answered, I get loads of private messages from random people begging for help downloading crap, some even send me login credentials.

Yeah, it's so sad they introduced drm for most of their videos. And my problem is that i'm not smart enough or handy enough to download the videos with all those command line programs that exist.

I know there is a topic about how to download from VRTnu but it seems so hard to do it.

  15. then what is the point of this board? If you're learning to download video streams, you're downloading something that's not meant to be downloaded...
it's either videos that you're supposed to pay for, but you don't want to pay for..
or videos you've paid for but not meant to be downloaded and kept on your hard drive...
or any other category of video that you're not allowed to download....
There is no legal justification for learning to download streams...erm...unless you're learning to download your OWN stream for "educational" purposes..

There must be a 'point' to this board because you spend so much time reading the threads and commenting in replies.

Although never providing any solutions just snarling like a powerless internet police man.

Exactly ..the point of this board is to download videos illegally and give the FU to corporate DRM BS...so I can watch what I want, when and how I want it.
So what is this moral police BS from the OP pretending that there is some other point to this board and ppl shouldn't download what they didn't pay for, yaddi yaddah?
I understand why the forum admin say this because they don't want to get shut down..but come on, if we can't pirate, then this board has no reason to exist

well, obviously I can't offer solutions because I don't know how to hack DRM...if I do, I'd be making a killing selling video piracy software

who cares if the tools are free, "you moron..you silly POS..waaah". It's irrelevant.

I have no problem with this place. I have problems with teenage basement dwelling virgins who get butthurt when ppl disagree..

aka..I just have a problem with ppl like YOU and the OP...if you don't like what I have to say then move your ass along
