i have been using mkvtoolnix gui version 51.0.0 for 2 years. i am using it to add a subtitle file to an mp4 file so i get an mkv file. also i am using it to remove a subtitle file from an mkv file
now there is mkvtoolnix gui version 65. is it ok if i continue to use the old version?

Of course, you can continue to use the old version, you can look the changelog for the new version and see if any of the updates apply to an issue that you experience.
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly -
Looking at the changelog over at https://mkvtoolnix.download/doc/NEWS.md there have been tons of fixed in regard of handling different common format, so I would not recommend to use such old mkv versions.
But if you are in your own private buble and the old version does it's job sticking to it is fine.users currently on my ignore list: deadrats, Stears555, marcorocchini
