  1. "Concept W and MRC developed the AmeriChrome Circuitry, which incorporates an advanced micro-controller (in the GV-2XXX) to produce clean, clear, and virtually identical copying of any video material. How this is done technically is for engineers, videophiles, and rocket scientists to delve into. But basically, the AmeriChrome Circuitry automatically synchronizes both deck speeds to maximize the signal of both the playback and recording decks. The circuitry and the Toshiba/NEC micro-controller decode and re-encode the A/V signal with complete preservation of the entire original image. " this is quoted from http://www.roughedge.com/videoverdicts/hardware/govideo.htm another article claimed " The secret behind Go Video's VCR is enhanced AmeriChrome circuitry, which uses an Intel microcontroller to eliminate the frequent blinking, pulsating or grainy image problems often encountered when copying tapes.

Go Video marketed an earlier version of its deck in 1990, without the enhanced AmeriChrome circuitry, but both reviews and sales were poor: Without the special circuitry, copy quality often was terrible. This new circuitry maintains a stable picture no matter what the source, says Palco." from https://www.deseret.com/1992/4/26/18980744/dual-deck-vcr-shows-that-2-heads-definitely...er-than-just-1. this is a "feature" advertised as being in most of the decks. they also say they can bypass macrovision

It's marketing BS, Go-Video double decks are the worst VCR's ever made, You can achieve far far better results using two S-VHS VCR's in "edit" mode with the playback VCR "Line TBC" turned on, But now it's all useless just capture the tape to digital.

  3. I was curious because the number 1 deck on my unit seems to play better then the number 2 deck (ddv9150) which seems strange to me since i would think the previous owner would use the number 1 deck exclusively for play leaving the number 2 only having the hours of recording on its head. i cleaned the heads and the number 1 deck still eliminated the consistent snow spots compared to number 2 deck. i came across the americhrome stuff and wondered if there might be some weak tbc in effect. do you think its just a straight lie and there is no nec chip in the devices . i could look inside my unit if i know what to look for . they unit only has composite out and single audio out so its never going to be good but was wondering if it was better then nothing.I used it to do a capture of a disc golf video. with no tbc and the results were okish https://youtu.be/zYhrgWlPjro . redid the capture as soon as i got my jvc9600 https://youtu.be/ZD0Aso3zPRw if my jvc wont play ep tapes the govideo is my last chance sometimes it comes through. update i came across an old thread on the 5th page of a search that led to a digital faq discussion on these deck. everyone agreed these did not live up to the hype at least in the early machines and any circuitry was not helping if it existed. i dont have any blank tapes to test if the later machines still had the issues. as you say its pointless now to worry about copy to copy .
