    I can use AmarecTV & capture perfectly fine with Extremecap U3 (losless video & 2-channel PCM), as the device is Directshow

    But VD2 shows nothing at all (just black box)
    Capture does not work either

    Any ideas?

    As I discovered Virtualdub2 is not good for capturing, yes it can do it but my results were pretty bad. You could try an older version of virtualdub such as 1.9
    It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly

    Amarectv is good enough to capture bitstream, so gave up on VD
