  1. I've been trying to back up my DVD's to sVCD so I can watch them on my laptop that doesnt have a dvd player.. But i've run into a wierd problem. I cant play the mpg file on the computer (even the one with the DVD player.

I've ripped the dvd using DVD2svcd and then burned the CD Images.. when I then go into the new burned sVCD and select the mpeg file with PowerDVD to view it, it freezes and takes forever to start.

If I put in one of the few disks that actually do work, then press stop and swap cd's after maybe 10 seconds, the new one that wouldnt work before will work (but will play whatever sections of the other cd that got played, then go into the movie currently selected). I cant figure out why its doing this.. Is this a header problem?

I can view mpegs no problem, esp when captured (I"ve made several sVCDs from recording off tv and had no prob.

    Any ideas?

  2. I'm not sure whats wrong with your situation. But if I were you I'd try WinDVD to play the svcd, it plays everything. If you are using WinDVD and it not working.....I'm not sure.......

  3. don't play the mpeg directly by opening it....you should have auto-play enabled in powerDVD so that the SVCD will automatically play once you stick in the SVCD disc into your DVD-ROM drive

this usually works better than going through powerDVD's file explorer and opening the .mpg file directly

  4. Where would I be able to configure it to auto-play sVCD's?
or should it be set up that way.. it doesnt seem to want to do that.. i've always had to do the searching function..

Unfortunately, my main software I have is the software that comes with Ati's AIW Radeon 7500, which works good, but I cant get the DVD player to play sVCD's.. just seems to want to play DVD's..

  5. so far, only powerDVD and winDVD can play SVCDs on your comp, so it's best to either get those 2 programs...auto-play should be somewhere in your options
