Hello, I've managed to track down a good used Panasonic DMR-EH57-S DVD locally for sale that i wish to use as a passthrough to stabilize my signal for signal capture, would this unit do the job? I am well aware of the typical models often mentioned but they are nowhere to be find so that's not an option.

Yup, it works great, I use that model for this purpose usually via the HDMI output. Just be vary of the same caveats as the other PAL panasonic dvd-recorders - very bright spots can get blown out if you don't manually lower the video signal going into it with e.g a passive volume control, and the power supply capacitors can go bad over time making the unit not turn on (Had to replace one on mine before it would turn on).
