  1. heres a black magic product capture with no tbc. from a composite line, out of a plain jane 4head vhs, you be the judge .
workflow govideo ddv9150 dual vhs deck ----decklink 4k extreme 12g -win10- davinchi deinterlace- veai upscale so no tbc other then what might or might not be on the card. https://youtu.be/zYhrgWlPjro i think it came out ok all things considered :P i think the veai upscale looks somewhat artificial on a 4k tv if your sitting to close to screen so i use superscale in davinchi now

We can add the BM Decklink 4K Extreme 12G to the list of capture cards that work under Windows 10, Price wise is not at reach of everyone though.
Your encoder is adding a lot of black space around the frame, Upscaling should start from no more than 480 lines, Looks like you have at least 40 black lines in total added on top and bottom before upscaling to 1080.

Line TBC not there whatsoever. @2:02, for example, windows and blinds wiggle.
Frame TBC is equally not there.
    BM BS.

In fact, all this "ADV chips = TBC" nonsense needs to end now. This was already stress tested and discussed years ago. It keep coming back, over and over, like a bad case of ___ (insert STD name here). Not true, never true. ADV chips have this quasi "DLLT"/whatever, which is wink-wink kinda-sorta (not) TBC. It reminds me of the RetroTINK and all the "double/triple buffer" blah blah. (Reminds me of "double secret probation".) In the case of ADV, it has potential, but the on-chip software/settings suck, at least at default values. It also cannot function worth a damned just as the single chip by itself.

    So:
    - ADV chips are not TBCs.
    - The BM devices with ADV chips are doubly not TBCs, because the chip isn't even enabled. BM is lazy.

  4. would love to see what a properly captured version of the disc golf video would look like . I think that seeing the source video playing from a camcoder or onto a crt tv can give a more complete picture, i know that i can see a positive difference when i push the tbc button on the jvc 9600. it is doing something the black magic is not or i would see no difference when i pushed it .i have also seen the decklink clear out snow significantly and look better then my crt and camcorder screen during that area of playback. to me the disc golf video MIGHT look better with additional tbc in the pipeline.i think the govideo deck played it well for being a straight vhs composite signal with no tbc . I will eventually recapture it to get the audio on 2 channels and an svideo signal capture. i just posted to let everyone form there own opinions

It's always good to see samples of degraded video.

--- though more helpful if you can also see the sample of the non-degraded as well.
