My old server is dying. Lots of strange HDD problems and randomly slow web requests(5seconds) that I can't find any solution for.

You can help me test the new server here:

    Forum
    https://forum.videohelp.com

    Software:
    https://www.videohelp.com/software

Post anything and try upload anything in the test forum.

Seems to be working. (and seems faster in response than the usual threads).

  5. New server active for the forum! (Not main site yet)

Everything will probably NOT work perfect. It's a lot of work upgrading from CentOS 7 to CentOS 8

As Blackadder knows, what is the first sign of madness ?

Site appears to work except under Win7 I must now access it in Chrome rather than the antiquated IE11 which worked fine on the old 'un

I see a screen "This page can't be displayed"

I get that occasionally on another forum and a refresh usually gets access.

Not important since I should not be using IE11 any more. Chrome loads first time.

Well I have 'discovered' a rather interesting 'bug' on the new server (the old one was never affected by this)

During this evening, I was encountering a 'site is not sending any data' error. This continued until a few minutes ago which was when I turned Jaksta Media Recorder, which I use to record live streams, off. With this s/w off, the site was accessable again (hence this post). And just to check that this was not a coincidence I turned the s/w back on and the site would not load.

My guess is that the server is responding to the proxy that this s/w uses.

For me it is no big deal since I typically will only use the software for an hour or so per evening. But I also use another proggy - TubeDigger - so I will have to check yo see if there are similar results there.

Mentioned here should other users have issues with proxies.

    A quick update.

Site does not appear to be affected by Tubedigger.

There is a 'fix' inasmuch that the site will load when both Jaksta is on and my Norton360 VPN is on. However, Jaksta does not work when the VPN is enabled. Ok. Not your problem but still worth mentioning since Windows (IE connections) does report that proxies are by-passed when VPNs are enabled.

Oh. And IE11 still does not work in any combination of the above.

Like I said, I can live with this. I am sure that noone will miss my contributions to the site when I am using the s/w

  21. I'm using MyPAL (a Pale Moon fork running on XP) and there's an issue with "My Files". It won't let me upload any more files, and the total says I'm over the 50 limit, which I guess should be impossible. I may have been at the limit when I tried to upload another file, but I'm down to 42 now.

I can check again using Chrome on a laptop later, if need be.

    No problem.
I deleted another file and the count went down to 53, so I guess it's just off for some reason.

I increased the file limit to 100.

Something is still wrong with the file counter.

Try refresh the files.videohelp.com now. Some files were never deleted correctly.

  28. I can upload again (thinks to the increased limit) but the file count is still wrong.

    Thanks.

But don't you see more files in the list now?
    Quote Quote
  30. Edit: Yes I do. Sorry I just noticed and you posted ahead of me.

Correction. After uploading a file (and maybe it was the same before but I didn't notice) some previously deleted files appeared in the list.
That made the file count correct and it appears to stay correct now after adding and deleting files.

    Thanks again.
