Hi video experts! I've got this 23GB hour long homemade MOV file in 4K res that I'd like to burn to Bluray disc for others to watch in standard players. My computer has a Bluray burner and I've purchased some BD-R discs but can't seem to find a good tutorial on how to convert the MOV file and successfully burn it as a native Bluray disc. My first attempt was to just burn the MOV file to a disc and the Bluray player wouldn't recognize it. Assistance greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Al

Standard Blu-ray players won't play 4K resolution video files. They also won't play HEVC video, which is often used for 4K. For best compatibility with Blu-ray players, you need to re-encode the video and audio to match the Blu-ray standard and author a Blu-ray disc.
If you are using Windows, you should post the MediaInfo report for the 4K MOV file that you want to convert. (Open the file with MediaInfo. Click on "View" and "Text". Copy the text from the window and paste into a new post here.) That way perhaps someone can suggest a good method for converting your file for Blu-ray.
If you use a Mac, use the Report function and ask a moderator to move your post to the Mac forum so you can get help from other Mac users.Ignore list: hello_hello, tried, TechLord, Snoopy329 -
Thanks for the reply. Here is the text output from the MediaInfo tool:

I found a short demo clip in a MOV file online that I could download to test paid consumer Blu-ray authoring software. The file has characteristics close enough to yours for test purposes.

I have no doubt that there is freeware that could be used to do the job. Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience to write a script to re-encode your MOV file with the right specs for 1080p Blu-ray. tsmuxer can produce a menu-less Blu-ray from Blu-ray-compliant audio and video input. Blu-Disc Studio Lite can also create Blu-ray files and folders from compliant sources but requires a fair amount of knowledge to use.Ignore list: hello_hello, tried, TechLord, Snoopy329 -
Thanks @usually_quiet! I tried TMPGEnc Authoring Works and it worked quite well for my needs. Easy to use and did the conversion and burning. I guess we'll have to live with 1080P discs vs 4K but I'm willing to do that.
