I don't suppose there's a program that'll run a video and tell me exactly what codec file is being called? I'd like to throw the appropriate codecs on a CD with some video files, but all vdub can tell me is that they're "divx 4 low-motion" and "divx audio compressor", two pretty generic terms. Be nice to know the exact filepath of the codecs on my computer.

The name of the codec is the FOURCC code (can be seen with the "dump" feature of vdub).
Then you have to look up the codec's filename in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
where you can find an entry for each avi-codec.
example:
vidc.DIV3=DivXc32.dll
I.e.: FOURCC is DIV3 (name of the codec)
DivXc32.dll (in system32) is the related dll. -
You can also play the video in your Media Player, right click on the screen, choose PROPERTIES, then look the streams up too
