Hi,
I was wondering if Soften block noise in TMPGenc at 35/35 really does anything significent in VCDs? The reason im hesitent to use soften block noise is because I don't want the movie to become blurry. I don't know how blurry that option really makes movies, but if the blurryness is hardly noticeable and you get a signifigent increase in quaility it might be something to try.

I used to use 30/30 for my VCD's and it made them pretty "soft" (blurry) but pretty much eliminated any block noise from high-motion scenes. It won't give you a significant increase in quality -- unless you think blurry is better than blocky
Personally, I prefer slightly blocky in motion scenes over blurry throughout the entire video.
