Hello. I've been creating 5.1 FLAC files from multi tracks which have always worked flawlessly. Recently I added 2 more speakers to my system so I attempted to create a 7.1 multichannel FLAC file but regardless of the order in which I place these additional 2 tracks, there is no audio coming out of the speakers & my receiver still reads 5.1 PCM. I don't know if flac only has a 6 channel limit or if it's an issue on Kodi's end which is what I use to play them.
Can anyone chime in, appreciate it !

After many years of lazyness
the creator of FLAC finally added proper multichannel support to the FLAC format.
The attached sample file is played correctly on my Windows 7 setup.
Maybe you're right and the actual problem is Kodi."Programmers are human-shaped machines that transform alcohol into bugs." -
I figured out the issue. In my receiver's speakers configuration, I have it set to 5.1.2 (the .2 being the 2 Atmos ceiling speakers I recently added).
When I changed the configuration to 7.1 it worked, so every time I'd want to playback a 7.1 FLAC file I'd have to change the speaker layout from 5.1.2 to 7.1 so it isn't really worth it. Thanks for your help though!
