  1. Hi folks!
Well, need your advice on something.
How can I tell if a svcd .mpg file was encoded as NTSC or PAL?
Reason I ask is I cant seem to find anything that can show
the properties of the .mpg's in question, giving me a headache
when trying to burn them in Nero. Im not sure whether to use the
    NTSC or PAL setting!
Recently I burned a svcd .mpg onto a CD as I didn't think it had
a chance of being PAL coz it simply isn't around in the UK yet, I used
NSTC as the setting in Nero, yet when I played it back on my
DVD player, fine for awhile but some weird green squares and clashing......so back to the drawing board I burned as PAL!! This time
no problems at all......how the hell can this be? I dont think there
was any chance in hell this file was encoded as PAL. Hmmmmm!
I've never had this prob before playing back NTSC stuff on my DVD player!
    HELP ME!!
Need.....program.....to....tell ....me....whether....file.......is......ntsc....or .....pal! ....***Stuttereds words as its hard destroying freshly burned stack of cup coasters as well as typing***
"If hustling is deviance in the eyes of the lord, then in my realm he is blind"...B*Tip - Back in the day!

Look in the tools section. Either download a software dvd player or get an mpeg2 codec. Play the svcd in media players, right click and choose properties. Look through its properties and find its resolution. Check here http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd.htm to see what the ntsc and pal resolutions are for svcd.

Or just download VCDEasy and have it analyse the file.

    MPEG2, PlayingTime=184.884s, Bitrate=2788800bps, PtsOffset=0213s, 25849 packets

Video Stream: Motion Video, 480x480, 29.97003fps (NTSC), 2520kbps
Audio Stream: Audio Standard MPEG layer2 Stereo, 44100Hz, 229376bps
If its 29.97fps then its NTSC, if its <insert PAL fps here> then its PAL. If it's MPEG-2 then it'll say MPEG2
