Hi all, I'm new to video editing, but I'm really enjoying restoring and learning related stuff. I'd like some advices if it's possible remove some white dots that appear in some videos, they appear in random places, sometimes for a single frame, sometimes for longer. I've been trying some virtualdub filters without success (probably due to my lack of experience), the only filter that managed to get rid of these spots was neatvideo, but it has introduced some artifacts (again, due to my lack of skills). I know that it's impossible to restore a bad source video to perfection, as there are no miracles, but I would like to try to get the best possible results.
By the way, I've been trying avisynth for weeks without success, for other filters other that clean video. I'm used to command line (unix and network stuff), but I'm having a bad time with simple avisynth scripts
I've attached 2 pictures, the first one is sourced from a officialy released dvd, I mean, I can live with those white dots, but I'm enjoying mess with restoring and all.
The second picture is from a bad sourced capture from vhs, that was captured from a bad sintonized tv in the 80's, here we have white dots, black dots and green horizontal lines. These one weren't officially released (other than streamed in tv in the 80's), so I can't grab a better source.

The only way that I could managed acceptable results is from a frame by frame restoring, with the clone stamp tool.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and please, take it easy with me , is my first post and english is not my main language.
    Regards

  2. deSpot, deVCR, DeScratch, DePulse, Decomet,.. might are the first Avisynth filters that come to mind just from the screen shots (a sample would be way better).

Add SpotLess to Selur's list. Together with a proper masking to do not remove small objects is very effective.
