    How about apt search ffmpeg?

It is based on Debian so i assume that ffmpeg would be in the repo

  4. First check it isn't already installed, many versions of Linux include it in the distro. Just type ffmpeg at the prompt and if installed it will list the installed codecs.

If it isn't installed, try 'sudo apt install ffmpeg' (without the quotes), then enter your password when prompted.
