Hi everybody,
I'm using TemporalDegrain2 since quite a time now to degrain my backups, but until now I never had to deal with a HDR content.
I tried to use TemporalDegrain2 as usual but my encoding got stuck on the first picture.
I was wondering if it was just TemporalDegrain2 not being compatible with HDR or if it was an argument to toggle it?
I'm very satisfy with the default settings of TemporalDegrain2 in Staxrip (TemporalDegrain2(degrainTR=2, postFFT=3, postSigma=3)), and if ever it's not compatible, which degrain would you suggest ?
I tried Neo FFT3D and Neo DFTTest, but I find them way more blurry, but I still haven't played with the setting that much, I don't have a lot of knowledge on this, so it takes me time to figure out how the arguments work.
Thanks

The problem is probably the high bit depth (10 bits?), not the fact that it's HDR. According to the docs postFFT=3 doesn't work with high bit depths. Use another value or ConvertBits(8) before TD2 then ConvertBits(10) after.

Thanks for your answer.
To be honest I don't know how to find the docs, for all the settings I used, it's a mix of experimentation and people speaking about it on forums. Where could I find a doc to know that postFFT=3 doesn't work for 10 bits for example?
Also, by converting to 8 bits then back to 10 bits, will I not loose color information?
Thanks
EDIT : Ok I just opened the TemporalDegrain2.avsi with a notepad and I understand a bit better. So postFFT=3 use neo_dfttest, so I had to check on neo_dfftest compatibility.
I'll have a look on the other method, hopping I'll find a way to have a nice result. But I still wonder about the 10bits>8bits>10bits conversion.Last edited by Cuissedemouche; 10th Dec 2021 at 08:05.

Yes just figured it out 5 minutes ago.
I edit my message just before your answer, I wasn't fast enough =D
And what about the bits conversion? -
I didn't have the latest TD2 so I updated to from 2.2 to 2.3.1. I also downloaded and installed neo-fft3d and neo-dfttest. TemporalDegrain2(degrainTR=2, postFFT=3, postSigma=3) is now working.

Yes it seems that I didn't have the last version of neo_FFT3D. I just updated it and it's working.
And yes I already tried with ConvertBits, but my point is that if we're converting colors to 8bits, then convert it back to 10bits, shouldn't we lose data in the way?
I'll work with the last version of neo_FFT3D but just for my curiosity I would like to know about this bits conversion.
Also thanks for your help! -
